Archimede Seguso was one of the most talented glassblowers of the twentieth century, not just on Murano but in the world. After leaving Seguso Vetri d'Arte in 1947, he opened his own glass factory, Vetreria Archimede Seguso, where he thrived and created some of the most interesting and noteworthy glass series of the century. This vase, in its classic form, was executed in pink opalescent glass whereupon a profuse amount of gold foil was added. The end result is rich and decadent, a hallmark of Archimede Seguso in the fifties.
