Archimede Seguso
Macchie Ambra Verde bowl

Vetreria Archimede Seguso
Italy, 1952
Heavy glass bowl internally decorated with colored shapes
6 3/8” l, 5” w, 3 1/4" h (16, 13, 8 cm)

After establishing a furnace bearing his own name in 1945/46, Archimede Seguso quickly gained the attention of critics and the buying public worldwide for his interesting designs and superlative execution. For me, post-war opulence is exemplified to the highest degree by the production of Vetreria Archimede Seguso. His designs are often known for their freeform nature and heavy use of gold leaf, and the Macchie Ambra Verde series punctuates that aesthetic. This series dates to 1952 and it saw great success in-period, and it continues to be a favorite among collectors today. The bowl offered here is a robust example of Archimede Seguso’s early aesthetic.

Excellent condition. Only very light traces of use.
