Archimede Seguso
Glass bowl with undulations

Vetreria Archimede Seguso
Italy, ca. 1950
Pink glass with profuse gold leaf and freeform design
8” d,  3 1/8” h (20.5, 8 cm)

This substantial bowl is a descendant of the design collaboration of Flavio Poli and
Archimede Seguso in the mid-thirties while at ASV Barovier Seguso & Ferro (precursor to Seguso Vetri d’Arte). After opening his own furnace, Archimede Seguso updated that original design into the slightly cleaner look seen here with a wide, flat rim and claimed back austerity by the elimination of controlled air bubbles. He also added significant thickness and weight, as well as incorporating his hallmark heavy-handed use of gold leaf. As evidenced by the photographs, this is a very robust and interesting piece of glass. It can anchor any side table in your home and will almost certainly garner
inquisitive comments from guests. The base features the early Archimede Seguso
round scalloped label.

Excellent condition.
