Alfredo Barbini
Bianco Nero Oro vase
Vetreria Alfredo Barbini
Italy, c. 1955
Black and white ribbed vase with gold leaf
14 ¾” h, 6 ¼” w, 4 ¾” d (37.5, 16, 12 cm)
Alfredo Barbini was a prodigy in glassblowing on Murano, introducing various glass techniques and executing in an exacting manner. His name is synonymous with quality and originality. In 1950, with the financial aid of Salviati & Company, Alfredo Barbini was able to open a glass company under his own name. This beautiful vase here was part of the early production at his own firm. It features a very elegant décor of black and white vertical stripes with gold leaf overtop and accented by gentle wide ribbing. It sits atop a clear thick disc base, and the top rim is scalloped to pair perfectly with the décor. This vase exudes Mid-Century refined elegance.
Excellent condition.
