Anzolo Fuga
Bizantino vase, model 13311
Arte Vetraria Muranese (AVEM)
Italy, c. 1956
Glass with red core, silver leaf, and various cane pieces
12” h, 6 ½” w (30.5, 16.5 cm)
The designer of the Bizantino décor is so far unknown, but this vase is an example of an early Anzolo Fuga shape, designed in 1955, utilizing the décor. In addition to the various styles of cane pieces, the vase also has an applied rim, collar, and foot, all with gold leaf inclusions. The Bizantino line was a huge commercial success, and it is easy to see why.
Excellent condition.
