A Bolle vases, pair
Venini & C.
Italy, ca. 1947
Thick glass internally decorated with controlled bubbles
4 1/4" h (green, 11 cm), 3 1/2" h (aubergine, 9 cm)
The "a Bolle" series consists of thick glass articles with large controlled bubbles that were executed in a plethora of colors. The green vase is model 3529 and the aubergine example appears to be model 3598. The green example is signed with the Venini three-line acid stamp <venini murano ITALIA>. The aubergine example appears to be unsigned, but that was common practice given the size.
The green example is in very good condition, with only a few scratches and use marks. The longest measuring 3/8". The aubergine example is in excellent condition. Both are clean on the inside.
Reference: Venetian Glass by Carlo Scarpa: The Venini Company, 1932-1947, Barovier, p. 135 shows the shape of the green example and p. 137 shows the shape of the aubergine example.
