The designs of Carlo Scarpa for MVM Cappellin & C. prove to be some of the most collected of the twentieth century. This is due to numerous aspects, including the stellar forms and the very interesting and often difficult to execute decor types. Rarity then underscores the collectability. Offered here is an example from the seldom-seen series called "Filigrana a Reticello" or net filigree. The decor consists of criss-crossing glass threads of white and aventurine that offer a sumptuous end result.
Excellent condition. For the sake of clarity, I am calling out the numerous air bubbles and ash flecks within the glass walls that are common to this decor type and period of glassblowing. Additionally, the underside shows a multi-prong pontil scar that is frequently found on articles blown by MVM Cappellin & C.
