Vetreria Aureliano Toso Italy, 1948 Vase with aqua and white vertical canes 11 3/4" h (30cm)
During the immediate post-war period, Dino Martens designed a wildly popular "Filigrana Semplice" (a canne) series which included various colors of canes and a nearly unlimited variety of models. This vase is very early in the series and dates to 1948. It features aqua and white canes that were precisely shaped and tooled into a very classic form. A base with gold leaf was added to give it that final touch.
Excellent condition. Minor flaws in the glass, including tiny air bubbles, consistent with this decor type and minor tool marks.
