Ingot Silver and Turquoise Circa late nineteenth to very early twentieth century Size 6.5 Face measures 5/8" by 5/8" Unsigned, as is common with these old pieces. Coin or higher in silver content.
This ring really has a lot going for it, not only in design but in construction. The large, high dome pear-shaped Turquoise is striking with its Robin's egg blue color and brown matrix. The handmade bezel has delightfully rudimentary construction consistent with early Navajo and Pueblo silver making. Note the ingot silver craquelure in the bezel itself. What is also interesting is the ingot silver hand-drawn wire that comprises the shank and band. Note the craquelure details present here as well. Continually, the twisted wire portions were hand-twisted, as one end shows tighter twists compared to the other. These sit atop a small section of silver with four notches clipped into it. They are not merely attached to the wire shank. All of these details come together to create a truly spectacular ring. Please see the close-up pictures highlighting these points.
