Sommerso a bollicine clock, model 9065
Seguso Vetri d'Arte
Italy, ca. 1952
Red cased pulegoso glass clock
6 1/2" h (16.5cm)
Sommerso a bollicine glass, which is thick cased pulegoso glass, was immensely popular on Murano beginning in the thirties when Carlo Scarpa designed a series for Venini. This clock frame was executed in red sommerso a bollicine glass with a profuse use of gold leaf. The clock mechanism itself appears to be original and was also made in Italy (signed). The fittings appear to be in brass. The clock is untested.
Excellent condition.
