Seguso Vetri d'Arte Italy, ca. 1960 Sommerso glass vase in teardrop form 7 1/2" h (19 cm)
The esteemed Flavio Poli penned some of the most fashionable sommerso vases during the Mid-Century period on Murano, and his frequent use of the teardrop shape continues to resonate with collectors today. The vase here resembles model 11664, but the height is shorter than factory documentation shows. It is highly likely that this was a custom-made model for Pauly & Company, which is supported by the Pauly retailer label on the base. We see this happening at other times between Seguso Vetri d'Arte and Pauly. The color combination of Rosso Cinese-Grigio-Cristallo is documented and dates to 1960.
