Flavio Poli
Sommerso bowl pair, model 13217
Seguso Vetri d'Arte
Italy, ca. 1961
Rubino-Violetto and Blu-Violetto sommerso glass
Large: 7 1/8" d, 3" h (18, 7.5 cm)
Small: 6 3/8" d, 2 3/4" h (16, 7 cm)
This pair of wonderfully sculptural bowls was designed Flavio Poli around 1961 and each presents in a seldom-seen color combination. The larger example is in Rubino-Violetto and the smaller is in Blu-Violetto. The opposing curves of the bowl side versus the bowl foot add much interest to this pair. The designs of Flavio Poli are truly iconic, and his post-war creations are prime examples of the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic.
Excellent condition. The Rubino-Violetto bowl has a minuscule flea bite to the outside edge, but it is only seen under very close scrutiny. The Blu-Violetto has tiny bubbles within the glass congruent with the sommerso glass technique.
