The name Flavio Poli has been held in great reverence since he started designing glass on Murano in the twenties. Everywhere he designed there was interest and intrigue surrounding his work. After quickly settling into and becoming partner in Seguso Vetri d’Arte his designs were winning awards and accolades, and he proved to be a powerhouse in good taste.

Flavio Poli is arguably best known for his designs executed in the sommerso technique where he utilized and stacked thick layers of colored glass with a result that was simple but immensely refined. These designs resonated perfectly with the new Midcentury Modern aesthetic that dominated the postwar world. He was supported by the glassblowers of Seguso Vetri d’Arte who were supremely talented and were able to execute his designs with great precision.

The vase seen here is in a seldom-seen colorway.

Excellent condition. This is a very fine example.
