Flavio Poli
Ribbed sommerso vase, model 12024
Seguso Vetri d'Arte
Blu sfumato cristallo sommerso vase
Italy, ca. 1958
9 1/4" h (23.5 cm)
The sommerso glass technique, translating to submerged, was immensely popular on Murano during the post-war period. Few designers are more connected to the glass technique than Flavio Poli. This particular example features a blue sfumato (gradient) body that was submerged in a thick layer of clear glass whereupon deep surface ribbing was added.
Excellent condition. Two very miniscule flakes to the bottom edge, only viewable under close examination.
