AVEM
Pulegoso vase with handles
Arte Vetraria Muranese
Italy, c. 1932
Pulegoso glass with iridized surface, model 481
7” h, 4 ¼” w (18 x 11 cm)
In its infancy, AVEM immediately took the opportunity to capitalize on the popularity of Pulegoso glass, which was made famous by Napoleone Martinuzzi in 1928 while designing for Venini. The example here is a clean, modern form with two simple handles and a perfectly proportioned base. In addition to the delightful plasticity of the pulegoso glass, the entire surface is heavily iridized. Model 481 would place it in year one of AVEM history.
Excellent condition.
