Silver Foil Vase
Arte Vetraria Muranese (AVEM)
Italy, c. 1950
Teal glass with silver leaf and iridized surface
5 ¼” h, 4 ¼” w (13.5, 11cm)
Giulio Radi, through his immense creativity, set himself apart from his peers while creating new glass décor types at AVEM in the immediate post-war period. He experimented heavily with metal foils applied to glass surfaces and often paired them with an iridescent finish. This delightful teal colored vase has a four-lobe form and is executed with a profuse use of silver leaf and finished with a heavily iridized surface. It is strikingly modern in both form and décor.
Excellent condition.
