Vetreria Fratelli Toso
Opalescent vase with applied details
Italy, ca. 1900/03
Opalescent white glass with orange abstracted motif and applied blue details
7 1/4" h (18.5 cm)
Fratelli Toso had a wonderous history and, at the time of its closure, was the oldest continually operating glassworks on Murano. This beautiful vase is telltale Fratelli Toso in its design and decor details. The orange abstracted "crown" motif from the midsection and below can be seen in a few other examples, as well as the handle style, when looking in the book Fratelli Toso Murano 1902-1980 by Heiremans and Toso. The applied details and colors all come together to give you a remarkable vase that truly is rare on today's market.
Excellent condition. There is a very fine stray trail of glass that continues from the spiral motif at the neck onto the body of the piece, which occurred in the making of the piece.
