Incamiciato vase grouping
Italy, ca. 1915
Cased glass with applied details
Orange: 6" h (15cm)
Yellow: 4 1/4" (11 cm)
Red: 6 1/2" h (16.5 cm)
Vetreria Fratelli Toso was known for its doblé, or incamiciato, glass production in the teens and twenties. They produced this decor in various colors and models, often with applied details. Each article consists of lattimo (white) glass overlayed with a transparent color. The orange and red vases have applied black details, while the yellow vase has applied dark blue details. It took a very talented glassblower to execute these articles, especially given the applied elements. The orange and yellow examples are unsigned and the red example is signed on the bottom with a round <MADE IN ITALY> acid stamp.
Excellent condition. The orange and red vases are without damage. The yellow vase has a single small shallow chip to the surface of the applied coil which is only noticeable if you look at just the right angle.
